Brake fluid is not suppose to leak into the cabin.......But there it is at about 41,000 miles (I’ve never driven a single car this many miles before) !
Over the last month I had to refill the reservoir twice, with no external leakage. I saw this somewhat dark spot but didn’t think anything of it; I think it was a slighty rainy day when I noticed it and thought it was a wet shoe. That was a few weeks ago.
Then when I got in the car this afternoon and realized it was much bigger, I investigated further and realized where the missing brake fluid was ending up. D’OH!
Drove straight to the dealership and dropped it off. Got a call an hour later saying the clutch was leaking. And I’m pretty sure the master cylinder is the issue. I feel like this should be covered somewhere under powertrain warranty , but I was told by my service advisor/friend to be prepared to contact Ford Customer Service, just in case. Also the carpet, because that’s not gonna be a simple cleanup, and knowing full well that brake fluid is hell on paint...This isn’t gonna be pretty.
The 931 isn’t the worst car to daily in spite of things
, but I’m missing the radio and bluetooth audio.

Bluetooth speakers work well enough.

I’m planning on wiring up a proper radio unit next spring. I can live with the lack of audio for now, unless this takes more than a week.

Some liberal application of brake parts cleaner with some vigorous scrubbing works wonders for cleaning petroleum products from carpeting. It might need a little touch up paint under the carpet.

You seem to be having a lot of issues for a car that only has 41,000 miles on it :(

Time to start calling it the Borkestang.
And maybe sell it for a Panther platform car with everything that is user serviceable. I’m not joking.

Head gasket at 19,000. Master cylinder at 41,000. At least it’s happening in long intervals!

Many a moon ago I had a friend with a manual S-10 Blazer (mid eighties) that was leaking from the clutch master cylinder. He just kept filling it up. I helped him swap the CMC out and investigate where all the fluid went. Pulling up the carpet and padding wasn't pleasant.
HFV has no HFV. But somehow has 2 motorcycles

I lost a good pair of shoes to a similar problem once. Canvas shoes don’t like brake fluid.

But those aren’t as light, or manual, nor do they have some of the standard amenities I’ve grown to appreciate in newer cars. I’ve got ideas for what’d I’d replace this car with.... Just down the road, even tho I’ve got a bit of an attachment to this car.

They’re easy to modify. You can add either a 5 or 6 speed manual. ADTR.net has all the resources you need.
I’ve never put much stock in those modern amenities, because they usually come with bloatware.
Edit: As to weight, that comes with the territory of a steel body on frame full-size sedan.

Being able to maintain your own car is a better advantage than putting up with a modern vehicle that keeps shitting on you.

Yes, but a Crown Vic isn't the answer to every question.
